2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The 4-seat Cabriolet is a soft-top convertible that has replaced the CLK-Class convertible. It is available in E350 and E550 versions. Based on the new E-Class coupe, the Cabriolet has almost the same dimensions.

The E-Class Cabriolet opens or closes in less than 20 seconds when driving at speeds of 25 mph or less. The Cabriolet features headbags that deploy upward from the doors in case of an accident.

The Airscarf option blows warm air at the back of front-seat occupants' necks from just under the head restraints. By utilizing electric heat, it warms up faster than the car itself. The new Aircap option makes a spoiler come up from the top of the windshield frame and the rear head restraints to rise along with a windscreen. This reduces the turbulence in the cockpit.

The GL-Class models includes the diesel GL350 Bluetec, which had been the GL320, and the gasoline powered GL450 and GL550. The GL lineup all seats seven people in three rows of seats. For 2010, it features a new Post-Safe safety system which unlocks the doors and shuts down the engine and fuel system after an accident.

The GL350 Bluetec and GL450 have new headlamps and LED taillights and new styling for the grille and front and rear bumpers, trapezoidal tailpipes, chrome skid plates and a choice between standard dual fog lights or optional LED daytime lights.

The GLs seat seven occupants and feature a multimedia system that has Bluetooth hands-free connectivity plus audio, video and navigation functions.

2010 Mercedes GLK

The GLK-Class is a small-crossover that seats five occupants. It is offered in GLK350 form with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine.

The GLK350 comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels; 20-inch rims are optional. The Premium package includes a panoramic moonroof and a power liftgate. The Lighting package comes with adaptive bi-xenon headlights, cornering lights and LED taillights.

The GLK350's interior resembles the C-Class sedan.

The GLK350 sports front bucket seats and a three-seat rear bench. Simulated leather upholstery is standard, but real leather is an option. The interior features real wood and aluminum trim.

Standard features include dual-zone automatic air conditioning, power-adjustable front seats, a single-CD stereo with an auxiliary input jack, cruise control and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel. Options include heated front seats, a CD changer and a backseat entertainment system.

The GLK350 has a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that makes 268 horsepower and 258 pounds-feet of torque. The engine is combined with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The GLK350 has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.

Standard safety equipment includes antilock brakes, side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags, an electronic stability system and active head restraints for the front seats.

2010 Mercedes-Benz M Class

The Mercedes M-Class is a mid-size SUV with few changes for the 2010 model. The major addition is the new model ML 450 Hybrid.

The M-Class can seat up to five people. The powered front seats include a driver's-side 4-way power lumbar adjustment. A 60/40-split rear seat creates a level load surface when folded. The optional Comand interface controls the optional navigation system, the stereo and other functions.

The M-Class has four engines available. The base ML350 comes standard with rear-wheel drive, but all the other M-Class models have Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. When properly equipped, the all-wheel-drive non-hybrid M-Class models can tow up to 7,200 pounds.

ML450 Hybrid

The ML450 Hybrid can move on electric power alone at low speeds. Mercedes estimates it will get 21/24 mpg city/highway.

The ML450 Hybrid has a 3.5-liter V-6 that produces 275 hp. It has two electric motors that are part of the transmission. The total system output is 335 hp. One electric motor is designed for acceleration from a standing stop and the other one is meant for on-the-move acceleration. If more power is needed, the gasoline engine will start automatically.

This M-Class' engine sometimes turns off when the car comes to a stop and starts again when the vehicle begins to move. The ML450 Hybrid has regenerative braking, capturing energy that would otherwise be lost as heat and uses it to replenish the hybrid system's high-voltage battery pack.

The ML450 Hybrid has a few differences from the other M-Class SUVs. The differences include the liftgate badge, the hood and 19-inch wheels. The driver can monitor the hybrid's operation and fuel economy with the optional Comand screen.

2011 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

2011 Mercedes R-Class

The resigned 2011 R-Class crossover has major front-end restyling and a revised interior. The three rows of seats hold up to six occupants, but with the optional second-row bench in place of the two captain's chairs, you can increase that number to seven.

The R-Class crossover is Mercedes most roomy model. It comes in R350 gasoline-powered and R350 Bluetec diesel models. Both come standard with 4Matic all-wheel drive.

The R-Class looked like a minivan, though it doesn't have sliding side doors. Its rear end is more vertical than those of many crossovers, similar to a van's, but it pays off in interior space. The redone nose has more of an SUV look, with a taller grille and angular headlights in place of the first generation's ovals. The rear end features more subtle changes with new LED taillights and a reshaped bumper integrating chrome tailpipes.

19-inch alloy wheels are standard on the base model while the R350 Bluetec has AMG wheels. 20-inch wheels come with the Sport package. Exterior options include LED daytime running lights and a power liftgate.

2011 Mercedes R-Class

The R-Class provides roomy first-row and second-row seats, but the third row would not be comfortable for adults for very long. The basic upholstery color options are black, cashmere and ash. Imitation leather and partial-power front seats, and burl walnut trim are standard. Nappa leather, eucalyptus wood trim and full power with seat memory are optional.

The R350 comes with Bluetooth connectivity and a tilt/sliding moonroof standard. Other options include a panorama glass roof, heated front seats, parking sensors, a wood/leather steering wheel and a rear entertainment system. Packaged options include auto-dimming rearview mirror, a backup camera, iPod integration and the Comand multifunction control interface.

TThe R350 has a 268-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 gasoline engine and the R350 Bluetec has a 210-hp, 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6. While, the diesel engine's power rating is low, it does make 400 pounds-feet of torque versus the gas engine's 258 pounds-feet and gets better mileage. Both models come with a 7-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

The R-Class comes standard with 8 airbags, including side-impact airbags for each outboard seat in the first and second row and also a pair of curtain airbags that cover the side windows for all three rows. The front seats have active head restraints. The Mercedes' Pre-Safe system can sense an impending collision and take steps to improve occupant safety: It tenses the seat belts and positions the front passenger seat for optimum protection. In case of a skid, any open windows and the sunroof will close to prevent ejection in the case of a rollover.

The 2011 model adds a blind spot warning system that monitors both sides and lets the driver know when either is occupied by another vehicle.

2010 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan is their flagship car. For 2011, the S-Class has introduced the S400 Hybrid. This is Mercedes' first hybrid sedan and the first mass-produced car with a lithium-ion battery pack. The S400 has start-stop technology that shuts the engine off at stops, recharges the battery with regenerative braking and provides a small power boost for passing. The S400 gets an estimated 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The V-8-powered S550 only gets 15/23 mpg. The S-Class has some minor changes in the safety and convenience features.

Styling changes include a new grille, bumper, active bi-xenon headlights, LED taillights and larger side mirrors.

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLK is a small retractable-hardtop roadster. It comes with a choice of V-6 engines or a V-8-powered AMG model.

The 2011 Mercedes SLS AMG is a new super, sports car. It has gull-wing doors and a 563-horsepower, 6.3-liter V-8 engine that produces 479 pounds-feet of torque. It sports a long hood and a short rear end. The SLS AMG's front wheels measure 19 inches and the rear are 20-inchers. Both the body and chassis are aluminum to lower the weight of the car.
