Ground Effects Body Kits
Ground Effects Packages do NOT include
Rear Decklid Spoilers, Rear Window Spoilers or Hood Scoops that may be
pictured.
A
typical
Ground
Effects
Package
for a
car will
have
four (4)
pieces –
one (1)
Front
Air Dam,
two (2)
Side
Skirts,
and one
(1) Rear
Air Dam.
Some
packages
will
include
additional
parts,
such as
Door
Panels.
A
typical
Ground
Effects
Package
for a
truck
will
have
seven
(7)
pieces –
one (1)
Front
Air Dam,
two (2)
Cab
Skirts,
two (2)
Bed
Skirts,
and two
(2) Rear
Skirts.
Some
truck
packages
will
have an
optional
Rear
Roll Pan
available.
If a
Rear
Roll Pan
is to be
installed,
the
original
rear
bumper
on the
truck
must be
removed.
We
always
suggest
that you
check
your
state
laws
before
removing
your
rear
bumper;
some
states
have
laws
that
make
rear
bumper
removal
illegal!
How much
will a
Ground
Effects
Package
lower my
vehicle?
We develop the
“body
restyling
packages”
to
enhance
the
vehicle
designs.
The
design
gives an
“optical
illusion”
that the
restyled
car has
been
lowered.
Actually,
most
Ground
Effects
kits
have one
(1)
inch, or
less, of
change
in
ground
clearance.
Are Front
and Rear
Air Dams
“Bumper
Replacements”?
No,
they are
not.
Front
and Rear
Air Dams
attach
to the
existing
stock-factory
bumper.
When
installing
a
part,
you
would
never
remove
the
stock-factory
front or
rear
bumper.
With the
presence
of air
bag
“sensors”
and with
all the
“crash
testing”
and
other
safety
related
issues, we do
not
recommend
removing
any
stock-
factory
bumper
and
replacing
it with
another
manufacturer’s
ground
effect
part.
How will
the
Ground
Effects
Packages
mount to
my car
or
truck?
All Ground
Effects
Packages
come
with
mounting
hardware
and
instructions.
A
typical
mounting
hardware
package
includes
all
necessary
screws
and a
tube of
urethane
adhesive.
Most
packages
include
double-sided
tape
which is
used to
hold the
parts on
the
vehicle
while
the
urethane
adhesive
cures.
We
include
a list
of
several
“quick
setting
adhesives”
in our
installation
(“tips”)
instructions
that
comes
with the
kit.
These
adhesives
can make
the
installation
easier
and can
be
purchased
at your
local
paint
and body
shop
supply
house.
Can I
install
a
Ground
Effects
Package
myself?
Yes, but we
suggest
that two
(2)
people
work
together
to
install
a Ground
Effects
package.
Why does
it take
two (2)
people
to
install
a
Ground
Effects
Package?
All
Front
and Rear
Air Dams
for
Ground
Effects
Packages
are
designed
to fit
from
wheel
well to
wheel
well.
This
design
creates
very
“large”
pieces
and it
is
designed
into all
Ground
Effects
Packages
to
prevent
unsightly
seams or
joints
as well
as
providing
excellent
fit and
design
continuity.
These
large
pieces
are
difficult
for 1
person
to
handle,
especially
after
they
have
been
painted.
You
wouldn’t
want to
scratch
them
while
you’re
installing
them, so
the
extra
hands to
hold
them are
always
helpful.
What
tools
will I
need to
install
a
Ground
Effects
Package?
We would
suggest
that, at
the
minimum,
you have
the
following
tools
available:
- Box
cutter /
Razor
knife:
Trim the
plastic
parts if
any
trimming
is
needed.
- Cordless
power
drill:
Drill
screw
holes.<
- Full
screwdriver
set: put
in
screws.
- Full
drill
bit set:
Drill
screw
holes.
- “Caulk
gun”: To
apply
the
urethane
adhesive
that
comes
with the
kit.
- Sandpaper:
To sand
the
parts if
necessary
during
the
“fitting”
process.
How hard
is it to
install
a
Ground
Effects
package?
It’s not
“hard”
to
install
a
Ground
Effects
package
since
the
parts
will fit
very
well.
Occasionally
a part
may have
to be
“slightly”
sanded
by hand
to get a
perfect
fit
because
of
slight
variations
from
vehicle
to
vehicle,
but in
most
cases no
sanding
will be
needed.
Most
routine
Installers
of
Ground
Effects
say that
our
parts
fit “
the best
of all”
and
“installing
them is
easy”.
When you
get the
kit,
before
you take
it to a
body
shop to
get it
painted,
always
“pre-fit”
the
parts on
your
car.
You will
then see
how well
the
parts
fit and
how easy
they
will be
to
install.
How long
will it
take to
install
a
Ground
Effects
Package?
For
someone
who has
never
installed
a ground
effect
package
before
(like
most
people),
a
typical Ground
Effects
Package
for a
car,
should
take
between
two (2)
and
three
(3)
hours to
install.
A
Ground
Effects
Package
for a
truck,
should
take
between
five (5)
and six
(6)
hours to
install
because
the
truck
will
have
more
parts.
If you
have
experience
installing
ground
effect
type
products,
two
people
should
be able
to
install
the
typical
package
for a
car in
about an
hour and
a truck
in under
two
hours.
Is there
anything
else I
need to
know
before
installing
a
Ground
Effects
Package?
Yes, we
always
strongly suggest
that
exhaust
turndowns
or
exhaust
extensions
are used
with all
Rear Air
Dams.
You must
re-direct,
or
deflect,
the heat
coming
out of
the tail
pipe
away
from all Ground Effect
parts.
Can I
get my
Ground
Effects
package
professionally
installed?
Yes.
Nearly any body shop or
installation
center
can
paint
and
install
your
Ground
Effects
package.
You may
want to
print a
picture
and talk
to them
to see
what
they
would
charge
for
installation
before
you buy
your
body
kit.
Tell
me about
the
warranty
on the
Ground
Effects
Packages warranty?
The Ground Effects Packages have a Limited Lifetime Warranty. It
is very
simple
and
straight-forward
–
we
will
replace
any
Ground
Effects
Package
or Rear
Deck
Wing
Spoiler
part
with a
manufacturing
defect
regardless
of
whether
it is
painted
OR
not
painted, whether
it is
installed OR it is
still in the
box. This
warranty
does not
cover:
Abuse,
Collision,
Mismatched
paint,
Off-Road
use or
“Racing”,
Neglect,
Changing
Your Mind, or parts
that
have
been
altered
and
installed.
What do
I do if
the
parts
are
damaged
before I
receive
them.
We have very
few
problems
with our
truck
lines.
However,
you must
check
out your
delivery
before
you
accept
it.
If there
is any
problem
with the
product
you must
immediately
contact
the
trucking
company,
which
delivered
your
Ground
Effects
package,
so you
can file
a claim.
Closely
examine
the
delivery
box for
any
damage
before
you
accept
it from
the
company
delivering
it.
Can I
return
the Ground
Effects
package
if I
change
my mind?
NO….
We show
pictures of all Ground Effects packages on our web site. We will answer all of
your questions in our “Frequently Asked Questions” section, by e-mail, and/or by
phone. We want you to be sure of what you are buying. We do not accept returns
unless the Ground Effects package is defective.

Effects
Package

about

You can

Effects
Package
by calling our office 8-5 Monday - Friday Central Time or by
e-mailing us for a quote on the shipping.
How much
does a
Ground
Effects
Package
cost?
Each specific
kit has a price listed for both unpainted and painted.
How
much
will it
cost to
have a
Ground
Effects
package
shipped
to me?
The minimum cost for shipping a Ground Effects Package inside the U.S. is $90.
The costs go up from there depending on where you live.
Most Ground
Effects
Packages
must be
shipped
via LTL
Common
Carrier
(18
wheeler)
and the
cost of
shipping
and
handling
is
included
in the
price
when the
customer
arranges
to have us
ship the
ground
effects
package
to a business
address.
This
applies
to
customers
located
in the
48-State
Continental
USA.
Shipments
to
Alaska,
Hawaii,
Puerto
Rico (or
outside
the USA
such as
Canada
or
Mexico)
will be
surcharged
an extra
shipping
cost.
Most
Customers
arrange
to have
their
Ground
Effects
Packages
shipped
directly
to the
Paint
and Body
shop
that
they
have
chosen
to paint
the
parts
for
them.
Any
Ground
Effects
package
shipped
to a
“Residential
Delivery”
will
have
extra
charges
of
approximately
$50.00.
Please
e-mail
or call
us for
specific
shipping
charges
outside
of the
Continental
United
States.
Due to the large size, these costs will be several hundred dollars at the least.
What if
I don’t
have a
business
address
for
the Ground
Effects
Package
order go
to? What
if I
want it
shipped
to my
house?
Shipments
to a
residential
address
will
have
extra
charges
of
approximately
$50.00 (as
charged
by the
LTL
Common
Carrier).
Remember,
as
mentioned
above,
these
Ground
Effects
parts
are very
large.
Typically,
they
will not
fit
inside a
car. So,
not only
will it
cost an
additional
$50-$60
to get
them
delivered
to your
house,
they
will be
very
difficult
to
transport
to a
Paint
and Body
shop.
Again,
most
Customers
arrange
to have
their
Ground
Effects
packages
shipped
directly
to the
Paint
and Body
shop
that
they
have
chosen
to paint
the
parts
for them
(saving
themselves
the
$50-$60
residential
surcharge).

AERO-FLEX®- What is it?
Why
do we manufacture Ground Effects
using AERO-FLEX®?
There are many different “grades” of
ABS type plastic. We use the very
best grades of ABS (Acrylinitrile
Butadiene
Styrene),
which are then blended together,
using with a secret formula to make
AERO-FLEX®, a special thermoset
plastic which is the very best
material available for the
manufacturing of Ground Effects type
products.
CarData's
Ground Effects Packages are not
soft, and rubbery like some Ground
Effects Packages that are made out
of urethane plastic (which are very
hard to paint and difficult to
install). The AERO-FLEX®
ABS Ground Effects Packages are more
rigid like fiberglass, but do not
crack like fiberglass parts will.
Also, parts made out of fiberglass
are usually very poor fitting
compared to AERO-FLEX®
parts. Our parts are commonly
referred to as the “best fitting”
parts in the Ground Effects
industry. AERO-FLEX® is not a
“urethane” material and it is NOT a
“fiberglass” material. The accurate
description of AERO-FLEX® is that it
is a “co-extruded ABS composite
plastic” material—a very “high tech”
plastic.
Most Ground Effects Kits Are
Available in Factory Pre-Painted
Colors
PAINT COLOR STANDARDS
It is CarData’s intent to provide
our customers with a pre-painted
Rear Ground Effects Kit that will
acceptably match your car’s paint.
In some instances, there are
actually various “shades” of your
car’s color code. These “shades”
can vary from darker to lighter,
even though it is the same paint
code. In cases where the factory
paint exhibits various “shades”, we
have tried to paint our kits with a
shade that is somewhat in the middle
of the “shade” choices to closely
match those that are a shade lighter
and also those that are a shade
darker. In some cases, our paint
match is as close as possible and is
acceptable, even though it may not
be 100% perfect (which no one could
be!). We also want to call your
attention to the fact that on
vehicles manufactured more
than 3 years ago, the vehicle may
have to be “buffed” to bring back
the original paint luster to match
the newly painted Ground Effects
Kit.
